Affirmations and Money
One thing that bridges people of all walks of life together is the desire to attain financial security. No other subject is of more interest to people than wealth or money. Everyone wants it, we never seem to have enough of it, and everyone wants to find ways to attract more of it.
Attracting wealth into your life is dependent on manifesting substantial income, abundance and prosperity. Using affirmations on a regular basis is a key to this process. What are affirmations? Affirmations are positive statements that are repeated in the present tense. They help you retrain your thoughts, behaviors and feelings in regard to money which can help you clear resistance and be open to receiving.
Money and wealth are subjects that are hot button issues for many people. Despite wanting more money, most people have limiting beliefs when it comes to their ability to get it. Money is one of those subjects that we frequently hear family and friends talk about when we are children. How many times have you heard one of the following comments?:
“Money doesn’t grow on trees” “We can’t afford it” “Those kinds of things aren’t for us” “Rich people aren’t good people” "Money is the root of all evil"
These types of statements that you heard from your parents, friends, neighbors or even the media, have influenced your beliefs about what it is like to be rich. Although you consciously know that there are “good” rich people , your past programming can affect your ability to feel comfortable about being rich.
This is where affirmations come in. The previous quotations, and ones like them, are actually affirmations, however they are negative affirmations. Just like positive affirmations, they are said in the present tense. If they are said with a lot of emotional conviction and repetition, they become programmed into your own belief system. It is thoughts and feelings like these that may be holding you back from becoming rich or attracting abundance into your life.
Therefore, if negative affirmations can hold you back from attracting wealth, positive affirmations can help retrain your beliefs to start attracting abundance. However, before you can begin to write affirmations about your own money goals (“I make a million dollars a year”), you may need to take some time to work on uncovering your own programming about money. Each time you discover a subconscious negative affirmation, replace it with a conscious positive affirmation. The positive affirmations will replace your learned beliefs from your childhood.
Start by making a list of the attitudes, behaviors or events that shaped what you currently think and feel about money and rich people. Think about what your parents taught you about wealth (or lack thereof). Write down these statements on a piece of paper.
Next, you’ll want to tackle each one of those statements with a new positive statement about wealth. For example, at the heart of “money doesn’t grow on trees” is the concept that wealth is finite and limited. You can challenge this with a new belief that aligns with your desire to create wealth.
“The universe is abundant with wealth and other resources.” " I am willing for money to now flow to me easily" " I am becoming a money magnet" " It is ok to desire money"
Confronting the old thoughts and beliefs about money and wealth will free you to attract what more of what you truly desire. If you sincerely want to increase your income by 50% , but are still holding on to old negative beliefs about being rich, your thoughts and beliefs will block and interfere with your ability to attract the money you desire. However, by consistently using affirmations, you can identify your old limiting beliefs and replace them with empowering statements that create that perfect vibration to be able to attract abundantly.
